244 days…

…that’s how long it’s been since I’ve seen some of you, that’s how long it’s been since we’ve had a ‘normal’ church service, and that is how long it’s been since I went to Harris Teeter without a mask on.

Truth is, we’ve ALL been impacted this year.

You’re wearing a mask to the grocery store. You probably had to cancel some family plans this year. And by now, you or at least someone in your extended family has had the virus.

I could go on…

We’ve ALL suffered.
We’ve ALL sacrificed.
We’ve ALL given up some freedoms.
We’ve ALL had to do things we didn’t want to do.
And, we’ve done ALL of these things together!

TOGETHER. That’s how we’ve made it through 244 days, and that’s the ONLY way we can move forward.

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together, to end your divisions, and to be united by the same mind and purpose.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NET‬‬

I’m excitedly, yet cautiously writing to announce that THIS SATURDAY, November 14, we will be gathering in person for the first time in 244 days. We are hosting a night of worship at Hope Chapel, 6175 Old Jenks Rd. Apex, NC. Yes, you have to get reservations. It’s gonna be an incredible night together! Doors open at 6:30, Worship starts at 7.

Regarding COVID, we cannot control the global spread of a virus. But together, we can minimize the effect it has on our church family and community. I care about you deeply, and want to create a safe & predictable space for us to worship together.

So, how do we do this well?

First of all, there will be no childcare. However, there is also not a sermon. Since it’s a night of worship, we anticipate most of the night will be loud enough that even if your kid is a bit loud, its OKAY. 🙂 Relax, bring your kids, and enjoy the evening of worship together!

Second, register in advance! This helps us prepare the right number of socially distanced seats. This is our first shot at safely having an in-person gathering, so if you don’t mind please register so we know how many people to expect! Just like the schools, sports teams, restaurants, etc have implemented covid procedures, we too will navigate a similar path.

Lastly, wear a mask. I know half of you agree to this and the other half do not agree. Personally, I hate the idea of wearing a mask to a worship service. However, I also hated the idea of wearing a mask to a grocery store, but I’ve done it for 244 days. I hated the idea of my daughter wearing a mask to school, but we’ve done it all school year. I hated the idea of wearing a mask into a restaurant just to get to my seat and take it off…but I do it every time.

What I’ve learned is, if it’s important to me, I’ll wear the mask…even if I’m not a fan.

So, wear a mask this Saturday, even if you don’t like the idea. God will move either way!

I am SO THANKFUL to be your pastor, and I appreciate your support and encouragement. I am confident that God is with us, and our best days are in front of us!
