The #verseoftheday today is 2 Corinthians 9:8
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Christians are encouraged to be generous in our giving because cheerful generosity is something that pleases the heart of God. Our generosity is rooted in the heart of a generous God.
His grace was a “free gift” to all of us, but it was a deeply personal sacrifice of generosity on the part of God. After all, the most famous verse in the Bible says “for God so loved the world that he GAVE…”
There is a principle from God that is found all throughout His Word. The principle of sowing and reaping.
-Proverbs says that a generous person will prosper and whoever refreshes others will also be refreshed himself.
-Job reminds us that those who plant trouble and cultivate evil will harvest the same.
-Jesus gave us the common cliché – a man will reap what he sows”
In today’s verse, Paul is discussing the wisdom of generosity, in contrast with the folly of selfishness. He says “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” Essentially, he is saying you can’t outgive God. God will always resupply and bless you so that you can continue being a generous person.
